A scanner, for your health & not the office: Withings ScanWatch

Withings ScanWatch
France

The smartwatch from Withings can be worn 24/7 for users to receive vital and potentially lifesaving metrics regarding their heart health, sleep activity, respiratory health and more.

Pairing with the free Withing’s Health Mate App, the ScanWatch uses a medical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG) and an oximeter to measure heart and lung health. The watch’s 13mm sapphire glass screen with a fluoroelastomer band makes the health wearable durable through everyday life, from vigorous activity to relaxing sleep and up to 50m underwater. Moreover, with its 30-day battery life, wearers never have to worry about any accounted activity.

Through swimming, cycling, running, and more, the ScanWatch switches into workout mode and automatically recognises the activity. It sends data to the Health Mate App without the user having to tap any fingers. Step tracking and GPS features are included, allowing users to achieve any step or distance goals. The ECG readings the ScanWatch provides can notify users of any irregular heart rates or beats, such as atrial fibrillation. The SpO2 sensor built into the watch uses multiwavelength tech to assess blood oxygen levels in just 30 seconds.

Not only can these metrics be tracked while exercising or completing day-to-day activities, but the smartwatch also monitors health metrics while the wearer is sleeping. Sleep cycles, duration of sleep and any interruptions experienced during sleep are all measured. This data is retained, along with information about the regularity of sleep, and a sleep score is then computed. The ScanWatch also accounts for breathing patterns during sleep.

Signs of sleep apnoea, a sleeping disorder where breathing stops repeatedly, can be detected through these features. Additionally, the intelligent wake-up function will wake users up in a seamless manner by choosing the most optimal time to vibrate and wake the wearer up when they are sleeping lightly, based on their snoozing pattern. Any abnormal signs during sleep or while awake can be reported directly to a user’s doctor via the Health Mate App to address and treat health problems quickly.

Using the pressable crown on the side of the ScanWatch, users can scroll through each function of the watch, in addition to their app notifications. Real-time notifications from Instagram, text messages, phone calls, Gmail, Facebook Messenger and more can all be viewed.
