AI and Stroke

The platform can identify the location of blockages in the brain and provides a mobile interface for consulting and sharing digital imaging.

According to the stroke association, 100 000 people in the UK suffer a stroke each year. Fast intervention is critical for giving the patient the best chance of a positive outcome, with as little as 15 minutes making a big difference. Manually assessing CT scans and consulting with other medical professionals when available can take time before treatment begins.

Viz AI has developed a multi-system automation platform for stroke detection and treatment that cuts down on time between arriving at the hospital with symptoms and receiving the life-saving intervention that stroke patients need. The artificial intelligence can analyse CT scans and automatically detect suspected large blood vessel strokes.

It does this by harnessing all its data to recognise when something doesn’t look normal when it spots that blood isn’t flowing normally in that area. It alerts doctors immediately. This allows them to review that area and to decide what action should be taken more rapidly.

The HIPAA-compliant, secure app allows medical professionals to consult on a case through text messaging or calling and viewing the CT scans together. Having all communication in one place and easily accessible no matter where the doctor is located speeds up the consultation process. Viz AI is currently listed on the Forbes list of the top 50 most promising AI companies in America. Similarly, Deep01 based in Taiwan uses machine-learning to identify bleeds in the brain with 95% accuracy.
