The program can analyse a brain scan in 30 seconds and detect sudden cerebral bleeds with 95% accuracy.
Deep01 has recently made news headlines for raising $2.7 million in funding, led by ASUSTek. They are the first AI company from Asia to receive FDA clearance from both Taiwan and the USA. The funding will go towards advancing their AI software.
The program analyses CT scans and provides results rapidly. It can detect technical aspects of head scans, such as where the bleed is, the size, and if there has been significant changes in the structure of the brain. Using AI to detect acute bleeds within the brain reduces the chance of human error while decreasing the time required for a diagnosis. The faster it is recognised and treated, the higher likelihood of a positive outcome for the patient.
Currently, the software has been used in over 3000 brain scans. It’s now being used in nine hospitals, with plans to expand into global markets.
“Medical image recognition using AI is something we have seen increasingly – We have recently featured Aidence, SkinVision and AEYE Health. All of these companies can utilise a vast number of available images to ‘train’ their algorithms for different clinical conditions. I was curious to read about this investment, given Asus is a big player and a brand name that we typically associate with computer equipment here in Europe.” Dr Vinay Shankar
