Over 11 weeks, users have an interactive session that helps them understand their depression. Topics include “lies depression tells you”, “positive activities”, and “the emotional equation”.
Depression is a common mental illness that can impact a person’s life in several ways. The number of people suffering from depression is sharply rising in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The uncertainty, stress, and isolation all contribute to an increase in mental illness. It is more important than ever that mental health support is affordable and accessible without in-person contact.
UpLift is a depression app for iOS that uses an effective type of psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), to treat depression. CBT is also part of Beacon’s digital therapy approach, it’s a digital health company based in Toronto. According to a study conducted by UpLift, they found a 50% long-term increase in mood after using the program.
Users complete one 45-minute session each week for eleven weeks. Each interactive session includes mental exercises, questions, and customised feedback. At the end of each session, a tool is unlocked that gives the user another aid in improving their depression symptoms. These tools include a trigger plan, mood boosters, mood journal, and goal trainer.
UpLift guides users through the process slowly, allowing them to absorb each session and put it into practice throughout the week. A seven-day free trial is available, and users can purchase the entire program for $69.99/ year.
