The program, provided through the patient’s healthcare provider, allows women to monitor their health throughout their pregnancy and make sure weight change, blood pressure, and more stay within healthy ranges.
The rate of maternal mortality in the US is on the rise, which is partially caused by the fact that half of US counties don’t have an OB-GYN. This can create additional time and financial barriers on expectant mothers to access the care they and their baby need.
Babyscripts is aiming to keep women healthy during their pregnancy by providing continuous health monitoring and keeping the expectant mother remotely connected to their doctor. The program is only available through certain healthcare providers who can sign the patient up during her prenatal appointment.
Once registered, the patient may receive a Mommy kit in the mail, depending on the provider’s plan. The kit includes an internet-connected medical device that can be set up in minutes for ongoing health monitoring during the pregnancy.
Each week, the BabyScripts’ app offers tailored information and tasks customised to the patient’s pregnancy. Measurements can be tracked through the app, including weight change, blood pressure, and glucose levels. The app provides healthy ranges for that stage of pregnancy and alerts the patient’s healthcare provider if anything is out of the ordinary.
Ongoing, remote monitoring of patients throughout the pregnancy will allow more women to get the care they require and catch possible complications early.
