CastPrint is bringing 3D printing technology to fracture treatment and making casts lightweight, durable and waterproof.
CastPrint launched in 2017 intending to completely change the way we treat multiple types of bone fractures. Using 3D printing technology, they’ve created an alternative to traditional plaster casts that are significantly more practical and can shorten rehabilitation time.
The casts are made of lightweight material with gaps in the structure to allow for breathability and easy access to those pesky itches. They are entirely waterproof, so patients are free to swim and don’t need to wrap their cast with plastic before every bath or shower. The casts can be quickly taken on and off, which means rehabilitation therapy can start earlier. This can greatly reduce healing time and the number of rehab sessions required.
Their custom made casts are currently available in 5 clinics around Latvia, with the hope of expanding throughout Europe in the near future. They offer casts for wrist, finger and ankle fractures but are willing to work on custom solutions for other fractures when needed.
