Digital medical knowledge platform powered by AI

Pathway Medical App
Canada

Pathway is an AI clinical assistant that provides medical professionals with all the information they need on the spot. In addition, it stays up to date with changing best practices and treatments.

Clinical guidelines can change rapidly, which became especially evident in the early days of the covid-19 pandemic. As more was learned about the spread and treatment of the virus, best practices changed by the day. Digital tools like Pathway became a vital part of ensuring all medical professionals were kept up to date.

This problem isn’t limited to public health crises and pandemics. Medical knowledge grows exponentially, which has been helped along by applying AI across every facet of healthcare. The quantity of information medical professionals must remember grows, so does the number of patients they must treat. The pressure of intensifying demands is reflected in clinician burnout and human error.

Clinical reference platforms such as Pathway can significantly improve patient outcomes at point-of-care. The tool provides doctors with all the information they need without stepping away from the patient to look up the information and assess the evidence from different sources.

Pathway is a clinician support platform that uses interactive algorithms to guide the healthcare professional through symptoms and treatment recommendations. The clinician can look up a specific disease for instant up-to-date information on best practices, medical management options, and landmark research or trials. The healthcare professional can quickly assess the available evidence where Pathway explains why the recommendations were made and provides direct links to the original sources.

The mobile app is currently available on iOS only, but an Android app is in the works. Medical students, nurses, residents, doctors, and other registered medical professionals can use the comprehensive database in their practice.

In October 2021, Pathway announced that it had secured $1.3 million ($CAD 1.6 million) in funding to grow its clinical decision support platform. The added functionality will increase the ways Pathway can help prevent clinician burnout while improving the quality of care patients receive.
