EchoGo uses artificial intelligence to detect cardiovascular disease

Automated heart scan analysis helps doctors make fast, informed decisions about diagnosis and treatment.

Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death worldwide, causing 27% of all deaths in the UK, according to the British Heart Foundation. Echocardiograms or ‘echo’ is an ultrasound scan of the heart and the moving images from the scan help specialists recognise problems with the heart. Manually interpreting an echocardiogram requires access to expert technicians, and there is also a chance of human error.

The EchoGo suite has developed an FDA-cleared analysis system that uses AI for accurate diagnostics. Echocardiogram images are sent directly to the program, which provides results within minutes. The EchoGo Core automatically calculates technical aspects familiar with experts in echo imaging such as ejection fraction with zero variability. This allows physicians to make quick, informed decisions about care plans.

The EchoGo Pro provides an opportunity for early intervention by detecting blood vessel disease in the echo images. It can identify those at higher risk of heart attacks. The decision tool is currently being trialled with over 6000 patients involved. Moving to AI-powered diagnostic tools provides faster results than traditional methods and decreases the chance of error. Aidence is another company using AI in medical imaging to help with the diagnosis of lung cancer.

Ultromics, the developer of the EchoGo Suite, has recently partnered with the Mayo Clinic to assess patients with Covid-19 rapidly. The joint research team is using the EchoGo Core to evaluate how the virus affects the heart and circulatory system.
