Their chest wearable, Frontier X, is the first of its kind to measure metrics that can help athletes avoid over-training.
Fourth Frontier started out in 2016 intending to provide athletes with more information on how they are training. The team of biomedical engineers and doctors created Frontier X, a chest wearable and first of its kind to measure breathing rate and heart health. Most fitness wearables tell you what you’re doing such as distance and speed, but Frontier X tells you how your body is doing so you know if you’re over or under training.
Overexerting yourself for long periods can deprive the heart of oxygen, sometimes causing permanent damage through scarring or lead to changes in the normal heart rhythm. The device is held to the chest with a band and vibrates if you’re exerting yourself too much so you know to change the pace. The target training load is fully customisable, and ECG data from your entire workout can be viewed on your smartphone. The device can also sync with your smartwatch if you want easy access to stats during your workout.
By measuring the breathing rate and monitoring ECG data, Fourth Frontier’s innovative technology allows athletes to train at their optimal level without the risk of long term damage.
