The app provides doctors with a faster alternative to using switchboards. Doctors can quickly call other doctors or units, send texts, arrange transfers, and check up-to-date guidelines.
Many hospitals in the UK use a slow communication process that can add on fifteen minutes or more during time-critical situations. The lack of a central platform for the most common communication needs means discussing cases, arranging transfers, checking updated guidelines, and exchanging information of specific cases all happen in different places.
The Induction App is looking to change that with a flexible, secure communication platform for medical teams and hospitals. Doctors can search a crowdsourced database to call units or doctors; they can text different teams, send encrypted medical images, and check updated guidelines for testing and treatment of various health issues.
The app can also be used to connect with others in a different hospital. For example, to transfer a patient to another hospital, a doctor must use a phone in their hospital to access their switchboard, who will then transfer them to the other hospital switchboard, which finally connects them to the inpatient ward. Using the induction app, the healthcare professional can easily find the correct unit and call the person immediately to set up the transfer.
