The Lexilight lamp uses innovative technology to remove the mirror effect that makes reading difficult for those with dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a type of learning disorder that can cause a person to struggle with reading and writing. Dyslexia affects how the brain decodes language, creating issues with picking out sounds and relating them to words. It’s a lifelong learning disorder that can cause social and emotional problems if sufferers aren’t supported.
Lexilife designed the Lexilight Lamp, a simple to use reading aid for children and adults. People with dyslexia don’t have a dominant eye, but instead both eyes are dominant, this can cause words to appear mirrored while reading.
The lamp uses a pulsating light to help the brain understand the material as if it came from a dominant eye. Tests show that this has eliminated the mirror effect in over 90% of users, allowing them to read without the confusion they usually have to contend with.
It’s a desktop-style LED lamp that you can use to light up reading material on both paper and digital screens. It has two modes, classic and Lexilight so it can be used as a standard light when not needed for reading. The lamp also comes with a cover to keep it safe while being transported.
