Patients enabled to complete their assessments from home and at any time.
Pre-operative assessment is an important step a patient must undergo before a surgical procedure to assess their health and to carry out any essential investigations to ensure they are healthy enough for surgery. The process can be difficult to manage, time-consuming for hospitals and patients, as well as being costly. It can also lead to cancellations and waits for treatments for patients.
Ultramed, a health technology company, has a digital solution to help improve the process for both patients and hospitals. It has a suite of tools from which MyPreOp is the most popular. It provides a consistent and efficient approach to the assessment process.
With MyPreOp, patients create an Ultramed account ‘on the cloud’ after being granted access by their hospital. They answer relevant health questions through the patient-friendly interface which is then submitted securely. A summary is then sent to the pre-op nurse and potential areas of concern are automatically highlighted through validated algorithms.
40% of patients who submit their information need no further action and an appointment can be arranged for the procedure – Saving a visit to the hospital for the patient and saving time in the clinic. For other patients, a telephone call, a clinic appointment, or investigations can be arranged more efficiently – It allows rapid screening and better planning on both low-risk and high-risk patients.
