Tech-enabled medication service from NowRx seeks to ensure a pharmacy always feels local.
The quickly growing adoption of telemedicine across the country means fewer people are being exposed to Covid-19 when they need to see a doctor. Rather than heading into a clinic, they can have their appointment with the doctor through a video consultation. However, if the patient is prescribed a medication, they will still need to leave their house to pick it up.
That’s where online prescription delivery comes in. NowRx is an online pharmacy that ships prescription medication directly to the patient’s door. Patients can ask their doctor to send the prescription to the service, or they can transfer their prescription to NowRx from another pharmacy.
Once NowRx receives the prescription, they fill the prescription and ship it for free on the same day, including controlled and refrigerated medication. They can fulfil special requests too, including blister packs and medication sorting.
Access to medication without travel decreases the risk of exposure to the virus while eliminating transportation or mobility barriers. However, NowRX currently operates only in Orange County and Silicon Valley, California. Zoom pharmacy offers a similar service in New Zealand with their unique sachet packs, but where else can digital health improve the patient experience with ordering, receiving and taking medications?
