Modern Health provides mental health support for employees across the entire spectrum of needs. Whether the employee is dealing with ongoing mental illness or is having no present concerns, resources are tailored for the individual.
In the US, almost 1 in 5 adults reported having a mental illness in 2016 according to the CDC. 71% of adults reported dealing with at least 1 symptom of stress such as headaches or feeling anxious. Chronic stress and mental illnesses can have a huge impact on someone’s ability to work and performance. Presenteeism and absenteeism in the workplace are both common results of poor mental health that can cost businesses.
Workplace mental health support is becoming more common. Unmind is one such example of a digital health initiative. However, some providers only offer support for certain concerns which may not address all employees. Modern Health, a California-based startup, was created to address that problem.
The company ensures every employee receives the support they need by offering services that cover the entire spectrum of mental health. Whether an employee is dealing with circumstance-based struggles, stress and anxiety, or is dealing with a chronic illness, they can receive personalised mental health care. The goal is long term mental wellbeing and resilience.
Employees new to the program get started by answering validated questions through the online platform to assess their needs. A personalised plan is put together using a combination of group learning, 1:1 therapy, and digital coaching, depending on the situation. Users are matched with a therapist or coach typically within twelve hours.
In late 2020, Modern Health raised $51 million in Series C funding round to aid in meeting the growing demands for mental health services. Modern Health’s current client list includes big names such as Pixar, Lyft, Zendesk, GitLab, and Udemy.
