NimbleRx partners with locally-owned pharmacies across the US so they can provide their patients with online prescription services.
Most large, franchised pharmacies have made many of their services available online, from prescription renewal to delivery. The cost of developing a secure web platform with those features is quite high, which often prevents locally-owned pharmacies from providing the same services.
NimbleRx is bringing independent pharmacies into the digital world by providing them with the secure platform they need. The Californian startup has partnered with local pharmacies across the US so they can connect with their customers through the website or mobile app.
Patients can request a refill and purchase their prescription directly through the app. The pharmacy receives the request and prepares the medication depending on what the patient selected: pick-up or delivery. Patients can check the status of their prescription through the app, so there is no need to call the pharmacy for an update.
“Local independent healthcare services such as pharmacies and opticians provide a vital service to patients in the area. Some people have developed long relationships with such providers and offer valuable advice helping to promote self-care and reducing the need for doctors or traditional services. Offering such providers the option to digitalise their services helps them remain viable and retain their important place in the community.
We have seen other digital providers such as Oncall Health in Canada, providing a telemedicine platform for doctors, Wizecare for independent physical therapists and Coviu for doctors in Australia. A key feature for developers is to ensure easy integration and offer options, as all small businesses have different needs. ” – Dr Vinay Shankar
