Remote monitoring of patients with implanted cardiac devices

Implicity - cardiac remote monitoring
France and United States

Implicity has three software solutions that cover continuous monitoring of heart health, data collection for clinical research, and early heart failure detection.

Implanted cardiac devices, such as defibrillators and pacemakers provide a unique opportunity for continuous data collection. This can make a huge difference both for research and for the individual safety and health. The remote monitoring of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) has been the new standard since 2015. However, adoption has been slow for several reasons. The workflow of collecting data and communicating with patients and medical teams is often complex.

There is a 90% false-positive rate frequently resulting in notifications being disabled, and securely accessing the data can be a troublesome. Only 30% of CIED patients in the US are being monitored remotely. Monitoring such patients has several benefits, including a 66% reduction in hospitalisation from stroke and a 34% reduction in death over three years. Implicity has developed three different software solutions for the remote monitoring of patients.

Their cardiac remote monitoring platform simplifies the process by streamlining the workflow. Real-time analytics provide an overview of the patient’s health. The graphical dashboard includes everything the healthcare team needs to know, including medical history and data collected from all devices. Early detection of potential complications means the medical team can act fast and prevent some medical events. The platform integrates electronic health records easily and uses machine learning to help electrophysiologists with the analytical workflow. The advanced research tool makes it easy to securely collect continuous real-time data for those participating in clinical studies.

The heart failure module reduces hospitalisations and keeps patients safe by predicting cardiac events. The solution uses AI to detect any irregularities that may indicate a problem and alerts the medical team. This provides more opportunity for preventive measures, which decreases the burden on the healthcare system. It helps the patient avoid deteriorating and potentially a hospital admission.

The continuous remote monitoring of implantable cardiac devices has many clinical benefits due to software advances; enabled by artificial intelligence. Implicity makes it easy to meet the new standard of care with their intuitive, simplified solutions for both clinical studies and patient health.
