Smart insulin pen & app for diabetes

Inpen smart pen system
Location: United States

The pen automatically tracks doses while the app calculates personalised quantities and reminds the user when it’s time for insulin.

Someone with insulin-dependent diabetes makes an average of fifty decisions about their health each day. That’s a burden that isn’t only emotionally and mentally draining but makes it easy to lose track of doses.

The FDA-cleared smart insulin pen, combined with InPens’ mobile app, helps remove some of the stress diabetic patients face daily by taking care of dose calculations, delivery, and tracking.

The smartpen, which lasts a year without charging, monitors insulin temperature and alerts the user if it gets too hot or too cold. The Bluetooth-connected pen can deliver half-unit doses and is compatible with well-known manufacturers such as Novolog®, Humalog®, and Fiasp®.

The iOS or android app calculates personalised insulin doses based on the user’s decisions or food that day, and is the only smartpen that currently tracks active insulin. Doses are automatically logged, so there is no risk of an accidental double-dose, and the app reminds the user when insulin is needed. The app can sync with glucose meters or continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and can generate shareable reports for users to help keep their medical team informed.

If the user prefers to have multiple pens (school, work, etc.), they can be paired to work together.
