The app allows NHS patients to review their health record, order medications, book appointments and get information on health issues.
The free mobile app is provided by the National Health Service (NHS) to patients in England. It’s a fully secure way for people to access a range of popular services without having to call their general practitioner (GP) or go to the clinic.
The app has been especially helpful during the Covid-19 pandemic by reducing the number of routine tasks for healthcare clinics and allowing patients to manage some of their care from home.
The app has a range of services available that might otherwise require a trip to the GP. It offers full, secure access to medical records, including allergies and prescription histories. Patients can book and cancel appointments at their GP surgery directly from the app. A regular medication request can be made through the app – After approval, the prescription will be sent electronically to a pharmacy of choice.
The app also provides immediate access to reliable advice on symptoms and the vast database of patient-friendly health leaflets. The app is an ongoing work in progress with plans for it to be an essential doorway to all the digital, community and hospital care available to patients on the NHS.
