Virtudent is increasing employee access to preventative dental care by bringing dental hygienists to the workplace. If an employee has a question or concern about their oral health, they can book a virtual appointment with a dentist.
According to the CDC, only 65% of adults in the US had a dental visit in 2017. Getting regular dental checks is important for avoiding gum disease and catching dental problems early, such as cavities. However, many people face a lack of access to preventative dental care, and it’s often not on the priority list when balancing the needs of a working day.
Virtudent is breaking away from the traditional model of oral care by offering teledentistry to employees – They work with employers to offer dental cleaning and screenings right in the office. The employer can arrange for hygienists to go to the workplace and set up in a provided room, such as the conference room. They sanitise the space and provide the service on the spot, saving employees from having to take time off work. Portable equipment includes a handheld x-ray and cameras.
If a team member has a question or concern about their oral health but doesn’t need a preventative service like an x-ray, polishing or dental exam, they can make use of the teledentistry service. They can book an appointment online and connect with a US board certified dentist through their smartphone or computer. The dentist can provide advice and help organise other care if needed.
