The smart blood pressure monitor takes a reading at the press of a button and stores the measurements in a mobile app.
High blood pressure, something 1 in 3 adults suffer from, is the leading cause of stroke and heart disease. However, it doesn’t always present with symptoms which is why regular monitoring is useful to make sure issues can be addressed quickly.
Withings, a French company, known for its smart health wearables, including watches, has created a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-connected blood pressure monitor that simplifies the process of monitoring blood pressure at home.
A device built-into the blood pressure cuff has an in-built screen that displays blood pressure results with a colour-coded indicator. This lets the user know if their blood pressure is in a healthy range according to European guidelines. The user’s blood pressure is taken with two presses of a button, and the data is transmitted to a smartphone app. Up to eight people can use the device and select their profile directly on the device before a measurement is taken, without having to use the mobile app.
The app stores the results from the blood pressure reading, so it is easy to see changes over time. On iOS, the data can be shared with the user’s medical team. Users can set reminders in the app to make sure they stick to a routine. The device has a modern design with USB charging and a battery that last six months.
